Ernest Sheffert, who has been gradually failing in health for some time passed away at his home Sunday morning January 15th, 1922.
Mr. Sheffert was born in Germany on June 12th, 1867, and came to America with his parents when only six years of age settling in Volga township.
In 1888 he was united in marriage with Miss Barbara Tresch of Elkader, and to them seven children were born, three sons and four daughters. One daughter preceded the father in death seven months ago.
Those left to mourn his death are his wife, three sons, Peter of Waterloo, John and Joseph at home, and three daughters, Mrs. James Staub, Mrs. Henry Losch, of Elkader, and Lena at home. He is also survived by four brothers, August, Frank and Charles of Dubuque, and John of Monona.
Funeral services were held at St. Joseph's church Tuesday forenoon and Interment was made in St. Joseph's cemetery. Our sympathy goes out to the sorrowing family.
