William R. Shrank, former long-time resident of Mallory township, died suddenly of heart trouble at his home at Gettysburg, S. Dak., Tuesday, Nov. 28, 1933. Deceased was born on a farm in Mallory township, Clayton County, where he grew to manhood. He was married to Miss Etta Adams. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Schrank, pioneer settlers of Clayton county. After his marriage he was successfully engaged in farming in Mallory township for a number of years. About 26 years ago the family went to Gettysburg, S. Dak., and settled on a farm, where deceased spent the remainder of his ambitious and true Christian life. He was 72 years old at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife, four children, several grandchildren, three brothers, Fred Schrank of Dubuque, Joe Schrank of New Butler, Wis., and John Schrank of Mallory township; two sisters, Mrs. William Marold of Dyersville and Mrs. John Strader of Chicago, Ill., and many other relatives and friends, by whom he will be sadly missed. Funeral services were held at the Catholic church at Gettysburg on Wednesday morning, Nov. 29. On last Thursday the body was brought here for burial and laid to rest in Mt. Olivet cemetery Friday morning, the Rev. J. A. Dupont officiating.
