Thurs., 7 Sept. 1922 issue of the “North Iowa Times” (McGregor, IA), Clayton section, page 3, column 3:
Mrs. M. M. Flower quietly passed away at noon Saturday, Sept. 2nd, at her home on Clayton Ridge. Mrs. Flower had been in poor health for a long time, but nevertheless her death was a great shock to her relatives and friends. The family have the sympathy of the entire neighborhood. Marriana Mamelia Flower, born in Burford, Ontario, May 14, 1847, to John Lossing and Emma Treffrey. Died in Clayton township, Sept. 2, 1922. On March 19, 1879, she was united in marriage with Gilbert L. Flower. To this union were born two sons, Dean G. and John who survive her, together with three grandchildren, and also her sister Alice and brother Charles, of Ames. Her husband preceded her in death Feb. 14, 1909. Funeral services were Monday at the home, conducted by Rev. Crumb, of McGregor, interment in Clayton cemetery.

Mr. and Mrs. Tom Dunkerton and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Dunkerton of Dunkerton, Iowa, autoed over to attend the funeral of Mrs. M. M. Flower Monday, Sept. 4th.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Fry have rented the John Flower farm for a year, and have taken possession. John has gone to Oelwein with his brother Dean and family.
