Relatives here received word of the death of Wm. Putzier, which occurred at South Dakota. The body was brought here Monday and the funeral will be held Wednesday.

Wm. J. Putzier was born at Gootschalk Provinz Pommern, Germany, April 26, 1867, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Putzier. He was baptized as an infant in the Lutheran church in Germany. In the year 1877 he emigrated to the U.S. with his parents, arriving in New York, Oct. 13 of that year. They settled at Guttenberg, where he made his home until 1907. On March 5, 1891, he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Bachhaus. To this union were born eight children. One son died in early childhood.

He moved with his family to South Dakota in 1907 and settled on a farm near Corsica, where he made his home until the fall of 1923, when he retired and moved to Mitchell, where he lived up to the time of his death. His death was sudden, as a result of a heart attack, which came on Thursday afternoon about 2 o'clock.

He leaves to mourn, his wife, and seven children, Alvin, Mrs. Elda Fascher, and Mrs. Grace Carman, all of Kimball, S.D., Mrs. Laura Krutsch of Ethan, S.D., Mrs. Valma Weerham, Elmer and Irman of Corsica. He also leaves two brothers, August of Marietta, Minn., and John of Garnavillo; two sisters, Mrs. Reka Thiele of Breda, Iowa, and Mrs. Bertha Walter of Buena Vista, Iowa. He also leaves 18 grandchildren, besides a host of friends who will sincerely mourn his death. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at St. Peter's Lutheran church, with Rev. G. Bunge officiating. Interment was in the new cemetery.
