Frank Greve, the subject of this sketch, was born at Communia, Clayton county, Sept. 24, 1862, and died Feb. 15, 1918, at Jacksonville, Fla. He was a son of William and Fredericka (Possehl) Greve.
He is survived by his mother, three brothers and five sisters, namely: Mother, Mrs. Frederika Greve; brothers, William, Fairburg, Neb.; George Greeve, Mont.; Fred, Blairsburg, Iowa. Sisters - Mrs. Frederike Harms, Oxford Junction, Iowa; Mrs. Elizabeth Enderes, Littleport, Iowa; Mrs. Ida Steen, Elkader; Mrs. Minnie Nelson, Aurora, Ill.; Mrs. Clara Hamilton, Aurora, Ill.
He was never married. He had a traction engine outfit, and with it he worked in Oklahoma, Montana and the Dakotas during the threshing season. During the winter months he would always go to a southern climate on account of poor health. For five or six years he went to South America during the winter, but in December of last year, on account of the war, he went to Jacksonville, Fla., where he passed away.
His body was sent to Littleport, arriving there on Thursday, Feb. 21. The funeral services were held the same day in the Littleport hall, Rev. C.H. Franke conducting them. Burial was at Communia.
