Louis E. Wagner, who died Oct. 16, at Boston, Mass., was born here Dec. 26, 1861, and so at the time of his death had reached the age of 71 years, nine months and 21 days.

He was the son of Emil and Mary (Keen) Wagner. Forty-six years of his life were spent in this community, working as a mechanic. He was the first to own and operate a steam threshing rig in this county.

On the 18th day of July, 1905, he was united in marriage to Anna E. Hagensick of Elkader, by the Rev. G. F. Braun of Farmersburg. To this union one son, Louie A. Wagner, was born and he lives with his mother on a farm north of Elkader. He also is survived by another son, L. M. Wagner of Elkader, two sisters, Mrs. Amelia Meisner and Mrs. Mary Leonard, and two half-brothers, Charles and Fred Wagner, all of this community. One brother, one sister and his parents preceded him in death.

His body was brought here from Boston and services were held in the Evangelical church last Sunday afternoon at 3:30, with interment in the East Side cemetery, the Rev. P. Kitterer officiating.
