_______Mrs. Christine Scholz Taken by Death in Texas
_______Death claimed a member of one of Guttenberg’s oldest families Sunday morning when Mrs. Christine Scholz died at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Rantzow, at Dallas, Texas.
Funeral services for Mrs. Scholz were held form the Tuecke funeral home to St. John American Lutheran church Wednesday afternoon in charge of Rev. E. W. Kraemer, pastor of St. John church. Burial was in the Guttenberg City cemetery.
Mrs. Scholz was born July 2, 1881, in Guttenberg, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Beerman and attended the Guttenberg Public schools. On October 19, 1904, she was married to Ernst Rantzow of Turkey River.
The couple were the parents of one son, Carl, and for a time they lived in Turkey River, later moving to McGregor, and then to Bellevue where Mr. Rantzow died in 1914 [sic: 1915]. Following the death of her husband, Mrs. Rantzow and her son moved back to Guttenberg to make their home.
On August 19, 1919, she was married to Robert Scholz of Guttenberg.
Mrs. Scholz had long been active in church work at St. John church and for more than fifty years had served as church organist, thirty-two of them consecutively.
Surviving are her son, Carl Rantzow, a step-son, Russell Scholz of Dubuque, and four grandchildren, Richard and Robert Rantzow, Russell Scholz and William Ahrens. Two brothers also survive, Dr. E. A. Beerman of Barrington, Illinois, and Otto Beerman of Marion. Two brothers, William and Henry Beerman, and a step-daughter, Ethel Scholz, preceded her in death.
