Otto A. Beerman Was Retired Railroad Executive

Burial rites were held here Monday morning for Otto A. Beerman, 68, native of Guttenberg who rose to a prominent position with the Milwaukee railroad during his 46 years of service with that firm. Mr. Beerman retired on December 31, 1952, as superintendent of the Iowa division of the railroad.

Mr. Beerman died last Thursday following an illness of several months and funeral services were held at Marion on Sunday afternoon, after which the body was brought here for burial by the Tuecke funeral home.

Mr. Beerman was born November 5, 1888, in Guttenberg, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Beerman. He attended the Guttenberg Public schools and after graduation went to work for the Milwaukee railroad in 1906. His father worked for the road 47 years before he retired here.

Mr. Beerman had a steady rise with the railroad until 1939, he became superintendent at Ottumwa, and later in the Terre Haute, Indiana, division. He went to Marion as superintendent in 1942.

On May 19, 1913, Mr. Beerman married Hazel Dubbels in Guttenberg, and the couple were parents of three children. A son, James E. Beerman, was killed in action in France in World War II.

Surviving Mr. Beerman was Mrs. Beerman and two daughters, Mrs. H. L. Fox of Auburn, California, and Mrs. C. A. Rivedal of Sioux City. Six grandchildren also survive. Mr. Beerman was preceded in death by his four brothers and sisters.
