Clayton County Register, Thur., 06 July 1933.

The funeral services for John J. McDermott were held Monday at 9:30 at the Sacred Heart church at Cox Creek, with the Rev. Father Boyle, of Strawberry Point, officiating.

Mr. McDermott was a life-long resident of the Cox Creek vicinity and was a successful farmer. His death occurred at his home last Friday at the age of 53 years. He is survived by four brothers, Edward, Thomas, Lawrence and Emmett, and three sisters, Mrs. Kate Hennessy, Mrs. Alice Johnson and Miss Coletta McDermott.

Casket bearers were: Gregor Debes, P. M. Connelly, Ed. Berns, P. H. Quinn, Joe Ivory and John Moyna.

Mr. McDermott was a member of the K. of C. Lodge, whose members attended the funeral in a body.

Burial was made in the Cox Creek cemetery.
