Funeral services for Thomas G. Hogan occurred Monday morning at St. Mary's Catholic church conducted by Rev. J. P. Boryle, the pastor. High mass was sung by home choir. During the services the business houses were closed. The pall bearers were: W. A/ Abbott, Dr. F. H. Howard, R. C. Norris, D. Scully, T. Glennon and J. Simek. Interment was made in the local cemetery.
Thomas G. Hogan was born in Gouy county Ireland, Jan. 1, 1862. There he learned the tailor trade and later became a merchant tailor. When a young man he came to Dubuque to live with an uncle, where for four years he worked at the tailor trade. From there he went to Vinton where he remained for three years working at his trade and at Manchester where he was a merchant tailor for three years. In 1887 he came to Strawberry Point where he has since resided and was one of the widest known merchant tailor men in all the surrounding towns. Nov. 28, ____ he was united in marriage to _____ Bridget Smith of this place at the St. Mary's Catholic church by the late Father Rowe. To this union one daughter, Mary Margaret, was born and who preceded her father in infancy. Surviving are his wife and one sister, Mrs. Mary Allen, of Philadelphia.
Mr. Hogan was a devout Catholic, seldom missed going to church. As a business man and citizen he was always ready to help in whichever way he could. He always stood for the right and no one ever heard him make a remark to hurt anyone. A good man has gone from us but let his good deeds be kept in our memory.
