Joe Miller died at his home on the Luxemberg Ridge March 31st, at 5:00 a.m., after a short illness.

He was born March 25, 1870, on the home farm and thus had reached the age of 63 years and six days at the time of his death. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Miller and received his education in the country school in the home district. For many years he was employed here by McLaughlin & Humphrey and later by James Humphrey and during that time he resided in Elkader.

He is survived by four brothers and one sister, namely, Pete, Dominick, Nick, Phil and Miss Clara, besides a host of other relatives and close friends.

Funeral services were held from St. Joseph's church here Monday forenoon, April 3d, and interment was made in St. Joseph's cemetery, the Rev. Father J. P. Taken officiating. Casket bearers were: John and James Humphrey, Sylvester Thillen, A_t Hoover, Meder Dinan and Dr. M. J. Miller, the latter from Ossian.

Relatives and friends from a distance who attended the services were: John Heles, Pete Lei and daughter, Mrs. John Hennes, Mrs. Schroeder, Mrs. Tillie Heles, all of Dubuque; Jack Hersog, Rockford, Ill.; Greg Humphrey, Chicago; Mrs. John McLaughlin and family, McGregor; and Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Kaber of Pairie du Chien.
