Clayton County Register, Thur., 09 Mar. 1933.

Guttenberg: Rudolph E. Wolter, long-time business man of Guttenberg, died at his home here Tuesday afternoon at 1:20 o'clock, at the age of 61 years, nine months and seven days, after an illness of a long duration. Mr. Wolter was born in Guttenberg May 21, 1871, and his entire life, with the exception of a short time when he operated a meat market at Garnavillo, was spent in the place of his birth. When a young man he learned the baker's trade, and for 38 years he was engaged in restaurant and bakery here. On July 12, 1898, he was married to Miss Lucy Koss. Mr. Wolter was an ambitious man during his entire life, and was a faithful member of the Catholic church. He was a member of the Woodman Lodge. To do acts of kindness for his family and friends was his greatest pleasure in life at all times. All that loving hands could do and medical knowledge could suggest, was done for him to save his life, but all to no avail. His death is deeply mourned by his wife, three children, Michael Wolter, Mrs. Clifford Noggle, and Mrs. Jack Klaes, all of Guttenberg; four grandchildren; his aged father, Rudolph Wolter, Sr., of Guttenberg; three brothers, Joseph Wolter and John Wolter, of this place, and Charles Wolter, of Detroit, Mich.; three sisters, Mrs. M. Gilbertz and Mrs. Charles Schmid of Guttenberg, and Mrs. Alphonse Wagner of McCammon, Idaho, and numerous other relatives and friends, by whom he will be sadly missed. One daughter preceded the father in death.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Father J. A. Dupont at St. Mary's Catholic church in Guttenberg Saturday morning at nine o'clock, with burial in Mt. Olivet cemetery.
