Clayton County Register, Thur., 16 Feb. 1933. Guttenberg column.
Funeral services for Mrs. Andrew Pink, nee Mary Tieke, one of Guttenberg's pioneer residents and worthy citizens, were conducted by the Rev. Father J. A. Dupont at St. Mary's Catholic church here Saturday morning at nine o'clock, with interment in Mt. Olivet cemetery. Mrs. Pink passed away at her home in this city Wednesday evening of last week at five o'clock, following a short illness. Deceased was born at Cincinnati, Ohio, on May 2, 1857, and therefore was 75 years, nine months and six days of age when called by death. When two years old, she came to Guttenberg with her parents to reside and had lived here since that time, with the exception of a short time when she resided at La Crosse, Wis. She was married at Guttenberg February 3, 1878, to Andrew Pink, who preceded her in death March 6, 1919. One daughter has also preceded the mother in death.
During her illness, Mrs. Pink was a patient sufferer. All that loving hands could do and medical knowledge could suggest was done for her to save her life, but all to no avail. To know Mrs. Pink was to respect her and her memories will be forever cherished by all who knew her. To do acts of kindness for her family and friends was her greatest pleasure in life at all times. She was a faithful member of the Catholic church. Her death is deeply mourned by eight children, namely: Mrs. Lizzie Har_er (looks like Harter or Harler) of Marshfield, Wis.; Mrs. Clara Eilers of Yankton, S. Dak.; Henry Pink of Waterloo; John, Bernard, Edward, Albert and Miss Anna Pink of Guttenberg; 28 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Ben Lake of Guttenberg, and Mrs. Anna Koopman of Dyersville; one brother, Ben Tieke of Dubuque, and many other relatives and friends, who will all sadly miss this good and true Christian woman. The funeral was very largely attended by relatives and friends from far and near, which showed that deceased was held in high esteem by all who knew her.
