John Ortman, former resident of Clayton county, passed away at his home in St. Paul, Minn., last Thursday, at the age of 52 years, eight months and 28 days. The body was brought to Guttenberg for burial and funeral services were conducted by the Rev. W. J. F. Adix at the H. L. Beerman home in Guttenberg Sunday afternoon, with burial in the City cemetery. The funeral was well attended. Deceased was born in Volga township, Clayton county. Iowa,, on May 11, 1880, later going to St. Paul, Minn., to reside, and where the remainder of his life was spent. He was married to Miss Anna Weig. His untimely death is deeply mourned by his wife and one son, Alvin, of St. Paul; his mother, Mrs. Wm. Ortman of Portage, Wis.; four brothers, Fred, Edward and Walter of Charles City; four sisters, Mrs. Fred Allenstein of Portage, Wis.; Mrs. J. Selchow of St. Paul, Minn.; Mrs. H. L. Beerman of Guttenberg, and Mrs. Albert Werner of Allison, Ia., and many other relatives and friends, by whom he will be sadly missed.
