Clayton County Register, Thur., 09 Feb. 1933. Strawberry Point column.

Services for Perrin Pierce occurred Friday Friday afternoon at the M.E. church conducted by the Rev. Thos. J. Elwick. The children of the second and third grades, with their teachers, attended the services in a body. The little white casket - covered with beautiful flowers - showed the esteem in which he was held by classmates, teachers, relatives and friends. The pall bearers were four boys from the public school: Marvin Snyder, Marvin Lundt, Ve___d Haufle and Alvin Feulner. Interment took place in the local cemetery.

Perrin Duane, oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry C. Pierce, was born at Strawberry Point, July 31, 1925, and died at the Finley Hospital in Dubuque, Wednesday morning, February 1, 1933, after an accident Monday evening.

He attended the Strawberry Pt. public school being in the second grade. His teacher bears testimony to the fact that he was a bright boy in school, nice to work with and manage in every way and was loved by his school mates. Monday afternoon while at school it is said, he wrote on the blackboard "Play safe to-day and play tomorrow." Little did they think that only a few short hours would pass "Perry" as he was called, would have joined the anjelic hosts. "Tis but a step we know not how soon, until all will be gathered so that he, now gone before, may be set in an unbroken circle around the throne on high." He received the sacrement of baptism at the hospital. He leaves to mourn his sudden loss his parents, two brothers Robert and Wilmer, his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Whitlock of this place and Mrs. P. L. Pierce of Osterdock besides other relatives and a large circle of friends. The sympathy of the entire community is extended to the grief stricken parents.

(Note: He was struck by an auto, an account of the accident appears in the same paper's week earlier edition.)
