Clayton County Register, Thur., 02 Feb. 1933. Guttenberg column.
Mrs. Sumner Miller (nee Ida White), a former Guttenberg resident, died on Monday morning at the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. D. White at Volga City at the age of 71 years, after an illness of a long time. Deceased was born at National, Clayton county, Iowa, and there grew to womanhood. She was married to Sumner Miller, who preceded her in death several years ago. Her husband was the founder of The Guttenberg Press, weekly newspaper here. After leaving Guttenberg, Mr. and Mrs. Miller resided at Pine Bluffs, Wy., for a number of years, but of late years Mrs. Miller had been making her home with her brother, Mr. and Mrs. R. D. White at Volga. While Mrs. Miller was a resident of Guttenberg she was very active in social circles and was held in high esteem by all of the community. Her death is deeply mourned by two brothers, Dr. G. G. White of California, and R. D. White of Volga City, one sister, Mrs. Inez Bock of Waukon, and many other relatives and friends, by whom she will be sadly missed. At this writing (Monday) arrangements for the funeral had not been made.
