Clayton County Register, Thur., 26 Jan. 1933.

Guttenberg: Henry F. Kregel, life-long resident of this community, died at his home in Guttenberg Sunday, Jan. 22, 1933, at five o'clock p.m., at the age of 44 years, one month and nine days, after an illness of a long duration. Deceased was born on a farm in Jefferson township, Clayton county, Iowa, on Dec. 13, 1888, where he grew to manhood. He was married at Mendota, Ill., to Miss Barbara Friedlein. After their marriage the couple returned to Guttenberg and for a number of years resided on a farm in Jefferson township. During his long illness Mr. Kregel was a patient sufferer and had hopes for recovery until the Angel of Death called him. All that loving hands could do and medical knowledge could suggest was done for him to save his life, but all to no avail. His untimely death is deeply mourned by his wife, three children (but four are named), LeRoy, Helen, Laura and Ruth, all at home; three brothers, Wm. F. Kregel of Guttenberg, F. W. Kregel and John F. Kregel, of Jefferson township; four sisters, Mrs. Louise Hensman of Geary, Okla.; Mrs. Otto Meyer of Jefferson township; Mrs. Henry Clefisch of Volga township; and Mrs. John F. Tuecke of Guttenberg, and numerous other relatives and friends, by whom he will be sadly missed. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. W. J. F. Adix, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran church in Guttenberg on Wednesday afternoon, with burial in the City cemetery. The funeral was attended by relatives and friends from far and near. The family has the sympathy of all in this community.
