Clayton County Register, Thur., 18 Oct. 1928. Garnavillo column.

Mrs. Anna Paulina Hinzman, nee Ihde, was born as the fourth oldest child of a family of nine children. Her father, John Ihde, is still living and her mother, Anna, nee Thoma, preceded her in death Nov. 15, 1919. She was born Dec. 19, 1884, in Read Twp. She attended school at Dawson district and was confirmed April 10, 1898, by Rev. F. Sommerland in St. Paul's church. She stayed at home until she was united in marriage to Richard Hinzman Oct. 5, 1904. To this union were born two children, Earl and Ray. She lived on different farms in Clayton county until they moved to town in 1912.

She always seemed to be in good health until about a year ago, she took seriously ill, and on Sept. 11, she had to give up her own home and stay with her father. On Jan. 18, her son Earl and her sister Amanda took her to Dubuque, to the Finley Hospital, where she underwent four major operations. After being in hospital four months, she was brought back to her faithful father's home, where her sister Amanda gave her the best of care. She always had a desire to go back to her own home. Her loved ones granted her this request and brought her to town, but it was only for a couple of weeks. It was impossible to give her the proper care, so she was removed to the Postville hospital Sept. 20. All that medical knowledge and loving care could do was done to relieve her suffering, but to no avail. She prepared herself for her last journey by participating in the Holy Sacrament. A visit last Sunday convinced us that her earthly departure was only a matter of days. She passed away on Friday morning at 3:00 o'clock. She had reached the age of 34 years, nine months and 23 days. She is deeply mourned by her two sons Ray and Earl, both of Garnavillo township, her aged father, and four sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Caroline Kurdelmeyer of Read Twp.; Mrs. Lizzie Kurdemeyer of Monona; Mrs. Charlotte Wiess of Farmersburg; Ben Ihde of Boardman Twp.; and John and Amanda at home on the farm in Garnavillo Twp., and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held in the St. Paul's church Sunday afternoon, Rev. K. Wm. Braun officiating.
