Clayton County Register, Thur., 28 June 1928. Volga City columns.

Anna Marie Libby Goodwin, daughter of James W. and Eliza Moshser* Libby, was born at Elkader, Iowa, May 30, 1856, and departed this life at eleven o'clock in the evening, June 18, 1928, at the age of 72 years and 18 days. She received her education in the Elkader schools and with her parents moved to Volga while yet in her teens. November 26, 1876, Anna was united in marriage with L. M. Goodwin, who preceded her in death November 30, 1922. Mrs. Goodwin was an active member of the Methodist Episcopal church and until prevented by ill health was connected with the choir and every other phase of the church work for over fifty years. She was a member of the Eastern Star. One of the real pleasures of Mrs. Goodwin's life was meeting with her Sunday School class of young ladies.

She leaves to mourn her departure one sister, Mrs. H. W. White of Volga, Iowa, numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Her life spoke through her cheerfulness and purity. She carried the sunshine of a cheerful face and a glad heart. She was a beautiful character. The Lord Jesus Christ was very real to her in her home life and duties, in her church life, and later in her hours of anxiety and pain. She liked her religion and every thing about her denoted her a Christian. She will never return to us but through the blessed consolation of the Gospel our hope is that we shall go to her. The funeral was held Wednesday, June 20, 1928, at the Methodist church, conducted by her pastor, Rev. Savies, who paid tribute to Mrs. Goodwin as a member and worker in the church. Music was rendered by the choir. The floral tributes were many and beautiful. Her pall bearers were young men that boarded with her: Percy Sorg, Dr. Cahill, Roy Candee, Fred Gernard, Walter Merriman and Dr. Dennison.

*Mother's maiden name was Mosher
