Clayton County Register, Thur., 21 June 1928.
Mrs. Arthur Moon was born October 18, 1906, in Marion Township, Clayton County, Iowa. She was baptized in the Marion Lutheran church. From Marion her parents moved to Highland Township where they resided for seven years, after which they moved to their present home near St. Olaf. Here she spent most of her girlhood days and received her public school and Christian training. She was confirmed in the Norway Lutheran church, May 29, 1921, after which she took an active part in the young people's activities of the church.
September 28, 1927, she was united in marriage with Arthur Moon, of Monona, and lived on the beautiful Moon farm place four and one half miles south of Monona until her death.
She was the oldest of a family of eight children and with ready willingness and obedience helped do the tasks that fell to the eldest daughter in the home. She was also willing to work away from home while it was necessary, to help others, and to earn her way, so as not to be a burden to the parents she loved. This is her mother's testimony of her and her share of the burdens of homemaking.
She was taken sick May 29th and was removed to the hospital at Cresco, Iowa, June 1st, where she underwent an operation for dermoid tumor. There was a condition of spreading peritonitis at the time of the operation and surgical aid could not save her life. She died early Sunday morning, the 10th of June, at the hospital in Cresco, aged 21 years, 7 months and 23 days.
She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, Arthur Moon, her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Christ Houg, three sisters, Myrtle, Lillian and Juliette, three brothers, Millard, Carl and Vernon, her grandparents on her mother's side, Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Ruroden, together with many other relatives and friends.
