Clayton County Register, Thur., 21 June 1928.

Frederick William Knospe was born Jan. 10 in the year 1845, in Newmark, Germany. In infancy he received holy baptism and was made a child and heir to his Lord. He was also duly instructed, and emmigrated to America, during his life in Germany he served in the army and received an honorable dismissal. He was married to Amelia Jaster in the year 1883, on the 27th of April. To this union were born 4 children, 3 of which remain to mourn the loss of their dear father. Mrs. Anna Dore; Martha Knospe, at home; John Knospe, of Elkport. Ernest Herman passed away at the age of 27. Mr. Knospe was a wagon-maker by trade. He lived at Littleport, Elkader and Osborne, but later on made his home at Elkport, where he passed away last Sunday. I was called to the bedside of the deceased, he longed for the privilege of partaking of holy communion. I impressed upon his mind what it meant to him and he humbly confessed his sins and received holy communion. Monday night he was stricken with apoplexy, of which he never rallied. He passed away June 14, 1928, at the age of 83 years, 5 months and 4 days. He leaves to mourn his loss, his widow, Mrs. Knospe, Mrs. Anna Dorl, John Knospe and Martha Knospe and other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

Peace to his ashes.
Rev. Damm

(Note: The surname Dore / Dorl was spelled both ways in the obit, as presented here.)
