After an illness lasting about two years, Theodore J, Roth a respected citizen of this place, died at his home on Bluff Street at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 14. Mr. Roth had been failing in health for the past two years. The immediate cause of death was Bright's disease. Theodore John Roth was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Roth. He was born in Guttenberg, Ia., June 29, 1852. On July 2, 1878 he was united in marriage at Guttenberg, to Rosina Gerner. He was employed by Zimmerman & Ives for fourteen years in the lumber business. He died at the age of 57 years, 6 months and 15 days. Left to mourn his loss, besides his sorrowing widow, are four sons and two daughters: Hubert, of Dubuque, Henry, Ben, Joe, Clara and Mamie, of Guttenberg. Also two brothers and one sister, Mrs. Paul Dorweiler, of this city; Jake Roth, of Templeton, Ia.; and Joe Roth, of Bagley, Wis. Mr. Roth was a member of St. Clement Society. The funeral was held under the auspices St. Clement Society, Saturday, Dec. 17, at St. Mary's Catholic church, Rev. Fr. Brinkman officiating. Burial in the Catholic cemetery.
