Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 24 Nov. 1910. Local News column.

From a small scratch received from the breaking of a water gauge in his engine and which developed blood poison, Charles Ecker, one of the best known engineers of the Milwaukee, died suddenly Saturday afternoon at North McGregor. For years he has been pulling trains over the division. The infected hand was not thought of a serious nature, and while under medical supervision, did not cause much trouble. A sudden change for the worse, however, occurred Friday. Ecker was 45 years of age.
