Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 17 Nov. 1910. Garnavillo column.

On Tuesday morning, Nov. 8th, death took from our midst an esteemed friend, Julius Pufahl. He was born in Gromadin Sheben, Germany, on Sept. 20, 1864, and at the age of seven, in company with his parents, came to America.

On Nov. 17, 1893, he was united in marriage to Clara Bierbaum, who with three sons mourn his death. They settled on a farm near Ceres, upon which he toiled until ill health compelled him to desist. The deceased has been a patient sufferer for several months and the past two weeks death was momentarily expected. His death was due to congestion of the brain.

Left to mourn his loss are his wife and three sons, Alfred, Ernst and Oscar; his aged parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gottlieb Pufahl, of Guttenberg; two sisters, Miss Huldah Pufahl, of Chicago, and Mrs. Fred Williams, of Steamboat Springs, Colo.; Herman of Bolivar, Mo., Otto, of Butte, Mont., Gustaff and Emil, of Monona.

Funeral services were held at the German Lutheran Church at 2 o'clock p.m. Saturday at Guttenberg, Rev. Janzig officiating. His remains were laid to rest in the City cemetery.
