After a lingering illness of a year, David Egbert, one of Monona's old and prominent citizens, died at his home, Tuesday morning, Oct. 18th. Funeral occurred Thursday.

Had David Egbert lived thirteen days more, he would have completed 49 years of life. On Oct. 30, 1861, he was born on the Egbert farm, bordering the east side of the town of Monona. His parents were Elmer and Anna Egbert. His boyhood and manhood till eleven eleven years ago, were spent on the farm. These last eleven years he lived in Monona. Twenty-five years ago this coming Thanksgiving, he was united in marriage with Miss Addie Cortis, of Monona. One child, Lloyd, was born to them, who shared with the mother the care of the sick one till the last.
The deceased was of a family of six: Ben, of Des Moines; a sister, Mrs. Carrie Whitney, of Little Rock, Ark., two half-sisters who died many years ago, and one half-brother, Ross Egbert, who also passed away many years ago.
The brother and sister of the deceased were present at the funeral, but the nephew, Ray Egbert, being in the west, was not here.
The funeral services were held from the home, by the pastor of the M.E. church, on Thursday, Oct. 20, at 10 a.m. Interment in the Monona cemetery
