Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 13 Oct. 1910. Garber column.
C. D. Miller was born in Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania, March 31, 1835, and died Oct. 7, 1910, at 10 p.m. At the age of 23 years he came to Pike County, Illinois, and on May 26, 1858 was married to Miss Jane McGuire and moved to Kansas the same year. In 1860 they removed to Huntingdon County, Penn., and in 1862 came to Iowa, and after a short sojourn here they removed to Adams County, Ill. After two years they again returned to Iowa and settled in Mallory township, in the home where he died. To this union fourteen children were born, eight of whom still survive him, five boys and three girls: Sumner, of Pine Bluff, Wyo.; William, of Elkader; Grover, of Guttenberg; Minerva and Frank, of Greeley, Iowa; Florence, of Brookings, S.D.; and Edward and Mathilda, who are still at home. Six preceded him across the river and also his wife, who died Jan. 5th, 1900.
Mr. Miller joined the Masonic order 31 years ago at Colesburg, Iowa, Constalation lodge No. 67, and was ever a true and loyal Mason, in all that word implies. He was a good father and will be greatly missed.
