Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 18 Aug. 1910. Garnavillo columns.

Sadness overspread our villagers when the news of the sudden death of a respected citizen was reported at about 7:30 o'clock on the evening of August 10th. For the past twenty years Frank Day has lived in this community and has worked as a barber. He was born at Brodtville, Wis., on July 21, 1868. His early youth was spent in that locality until his removal to Garnavillo in 1889. Here, on July 21st of the same year he was married to Miss Carrie Nieter, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Nieter, residents of Garnavillo. Shorty after his arrival here he opened a barber shop. His trade has always been good and he has been admired for his genius and ability. Always healthy and of a jolly disposition, it seemed incredible when it was reported that he has died. His death was do to urinic poisoning and heart trouble, after an illness of a day or so.

He is deeply mourned by his wife and children, Clarissa and Clifford. A large circle of relatives and friends also mourn him. Besides his wife and children he is survived by his aged parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Day, of Brodtville, Wis., two sisters, Mrs. J. Clark, of LaCrosse, Wis., and Mrs. C. Culkins, of Bagley, Wis., four brothers, James, of LaCrosse, William W., of Dubuque, Jeremiah and Henry of Brodtville, Wis.

The funeral services were held at the home of the deceased at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Rev. Hawkins, of Patch Grove, Wis., conducting, with burial in the new cemetery.
