Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 11 Aug. 1910. Local News columns.
Mrs. Lars L. Hulverson died at her home Wednesday morning at 6:30, after an illness extending over some four years.
Mrs. Hulverson, whose maiden name was Isabella Thompson, was born in Norway, April 26th, 1858, and came to America with her parents when about twelve years of age.
October 21st, 1881, she was married to Lars L. Hulverson and to them were born four children: two daughters, Mrs. Leona Downie and Mrs. Bertha Stoops; and two sons, George and Lawrence. The daughters live near Elkader and the sons are still at home so that all were close at hand to help and comfort her during the time when her life's tide was slowly but surely ebbing.
Two sister's, Mrs. Martin Larson, of Highland township and, Mrs. F. Danielson, of Milton, N.D., with her husband and family survive her.
She was Matron of the Clayton County Hospital for the insane for twenty years while it was located on the Poor Farm in Read township, and nine years at Elkader, and she earned the praise of all for the kindly but efficient way in which she performed the many duties resting upon her. For the past four years however, she has been a patient sufferer, and for the last three years she has been confined to a wheel chair.
Her husband has lost a devoted wife, her children a kind and loving mother and her neighbors a sincere friend. Their comfort must come however from the realization that the days of her suffering are over, that she has gone before to await in that "Great Day" to come.
She was a valued member of the Royal Neighbors and Yeomen lodges although she had been unable to take any part in their meetings for some years.
The funeral services are to be held tomorrow, Friday, afternoon at two o'clock in the Congregational church.
