Mrs. Elizabeth Williams, mother of Mrs. C. W. Downing, and one of the earliest settlers of the town, died at the Downing home last Saturday, funeral services were held in the M.E. church yesterday, conducted by Rev. Bird.

Elizabeth Elsie Spry, daughter of Benjamin and Fany McClaud Spry, was born March 5, 1832, in Muskingdom Co., Ohio, and died at her daughter's home, Mrs. Chas. Downing, Monona, Iowa, March 12, 1910.
She moved with her parents from Muskingdom Co., to Elkhart Co., Ind., in 1835. In 1848 she was married to Joshua L. Williams, of Elkhart Co., Ind., and moved to Monona, Ia., in 1865, from Monona they moved to Bristol, S.D., in 1884.
To this union was born eleven children, eight of whom survive. Her husband and three children preceeding her in death.
The surviving are Alva W., Jacob L., Ottle L. Williams and Mrs. Emma Kennedy, of St. Joseph, Mo., Mrs. Sarah F. Downing, of Monona, Ia., Mrs. Alice Christianson, of Watertown, S. Dak., Milo J. Williams, of Sioux City, Iowa, and Chas. H. Williams of Black Springs, Ark.
Three sons: Alva, Milo and Charles were unable to be present at the funeral.
She leaves two brothers, eight children, thirty-seven grandchildren, thirty two great grandchildren and two great great grand children.
Mrs. Williams was converted at the age of 14 and united with the M.E. Church. She has always been a firm and steadfast christian.
In the death of Elizabeth Elsie Williams the family looses a kind and loving mother.
Funeral services were held at the M.E. church on Wednesday afternoon. The remains were taken to be laid to rest beside her husband in the cemetery at Bristol, S.D.
