Herbert Gottlieb Zurcher was born at Farmersburg, Ia., April 28th, 1884. He was at home until he was 18 years of age, When he went to Charles City to attend college. There he spent two years and from thence he went to Ames to attend the Iowa college, at which place he joined the Baptist church. In March of 1906 he went to Canada. He returned to Farmersburg and June 20th of the same year was united in marriage to Miss Etta Debes. Together they went to Canada, where Herbert had lived one month less than four years at the time of his death. His death was caused by typhoid fever after a very short illness. He leaves to mourn his passing, a sorrowing wife, who was to ill to accompany the remains, two small children, his parents and three brothers. Funeral services were held in the Lutheran church here, which was filled with friends of the deceased. Rev. Rage, of Monona, conducted the services in German, and Rev. Pett in English. The family have the sympathy of all in this, their bereavement. Burial in the Farmersburg cemetery.

As stated in last week's correspondence, Mr. Zurcher, in answer to a telegram, departed for the bedside of his son Herbert, who was very ill at his home near Sperling, Manitoba, Canada. Tuesday a telegram brought the sad news that Herbert had died Sunday evening, Feb. 27th. Friday evening Mr. Zurcher arrived here with the remains.
