Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 03 Mar. 1910. Monona columns.

Anna Marie Dieferbach was born in Germany Dec. 31, 1831; and died at her home on Pleasant Ridge, Feb. 20, 1910, aged 78 years, 1 month and 20 days. With her parents she came to America, making her home in Dearborn county, Indiana.

Nov. 3rd, 1850, she was united in marriage to Adam Seitz. They came to Clayton county in 1856, residing upon the farm on Pleasant Ridge over 40 years.

Nine children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Seitz, five preceding the mother to the gave. Those living are : Geo. Seitz, residing in Mississippi; Mrs. Jacob Fox, at the homestead; Frank Seitz, on Pleasant Ridge; and Mrs. Gus Muth, near Watson. There are seventeen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The aged husband, surviving his companion of nearly sixty years, is in poor health and confined to his home, his daughter, Mrs. Fox, and her husband, carefully caring for him in his extreme sorrow.

Mrs. Seitz was a woman enjoying the respect of neighbors and friends. She was a good woman; her character gifted with numerous excellent qualities. She was firm in her religious devotions and rested her every hope upon the promises of the Lord and Master. Neighbors and friends speak of her in the highest terms; her life was an illuminated mark, an example of purity in thought and deed. Possessing to a large degree a childlike nature, her home was the abode of love, honor and fidelity, the family her idols, the home though humble as it was, her paradise. She lived to do good, to scatter the seeds of kindness among neighbors and her personal friends, to lend a helping hand in time of need and in the hours of distress. Those who knew her best will ever revere her memory and cherish the examples of womanly character she has left as a legacy all would emulate. May the crown of peace be her diadem, and every joy awarded her, be her position in her heavenly home.

The funeral service was conducted by Rev. F. O. Barz, at the house, and at the stone church near Watson, on Tuesday, the 22nd. Interment in the Monona cemetery.
