Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 17 Feb. 1910. Strawberry Point column.

The death of Mrs. Townsend, which occurred at her home in Davenport last Monday, was received with sorrow by her many relatives and friends in this community. Her remains were brought here Wednesday morning where services were held at the home of her sister, Mrs. Moore, interment taking place in the local cemetery. Rev. Searcy preached the funeral sermon. Mr. Townsend, although in very poor health, accompanied by his four children, were present to pay their last respects to their dear wife and mother. Mrs. Eva Townsend was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Nye. She was born at Strawberry Point Dec. 15th, 1867, where she was raised and educated in the public schools of this place. Her life here was so generous, her heart so full of life and love as to endear many to her who are today sharing with her dear ones in their sad bereavement.
