Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon from the Appleton Funeral Home at Edgewood for James G. Groth, 82, who died last Thursday (Feb. 1, 1968) at a Manchester hospital.

The services were conducted by Rev. Ernest Allen pastor of the Colesburg Methodist Church, and burial was in the Brown Cemetery near Colesburg,Ia.

Pallbearers were Arthur Steinfadt, Leavitt Bush, Arthur Jaster, Albert Jaster, Donald Groth and Wilson Barnhart.

Mr. Groth was born March 26, 1885, at rural Guttenberg, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Groth. On December 12, 1907, he married Stella Smith at Marion, North Dakota.

Surviving Mr. Groth are his wife and four sons, Earnest Groth of Garber, George Groth of Guttenberg, Otto Groth of Elkport, and Harold Groth of Helotes, Texas.

Also surviving are 19 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren as well as one brother William Groth of Guttenberg. Mr. Groth was preceded in death by a daughter Mrs. Lloyd Post, and by an infant son as well as four brothers and one sister.
