On Saturday morning, at 5:15 o'clock, after a lingering illness, occurred the death of Mrs. Josephine Rothmeyer, of this city. Mrs. Rothmeyer, nee Thein, was born at Schlesingerville, Wis., March 19th, 1850. at the age of one year she moved with her parents to Elkport, where she grew to womanhood. On May 18th, 1871, she married Matthias Rothmeyer and settled on a farm near Elkader, where she lived until April of 1910, when they moved to Elkader.

Six children were born to bless this Union, George, Katherine, Clara, Charles, Josephine and Ella, two of whom, Katherine and Josephine, preceded her in death.

She leaves to mourn her death her husband, children, four grandchildren and three brothers, Michael W. Thein, of Garnavillo; Henry A. and Joseph L., of Garber, Iowa. She was a good Christian and a kind mother and will be greatly missed by all who Knew her. She was laid to rest Monday morning in the Catholic cemetery.
