Charles F. Schoch passed away at his home in Elkader last Saturday, April 18th, at 6:00 p.m. His death came as the result of paralysis, the first stroke of which came several years ago, leaving him an invalid.
Deceased was sixty-two years of age, having been born in Philadelphia, Pa., April 4th, 1852. That same year his parents moved to Clayton County, so that his lifetime has practically been spent here. For years he was engaged in the blacksmith and wagon making business here and ""Schoch Wagons" were well and favorably known throughout this entire section.
He was married to Miss Fredericka Suckow in Elkader, Sept. 6tth, 1875, and to them were born eight children, seven of whom are living. The wife and mother passed away January 2nd, 1909.
The surviving children are Mrs. Rosa Monlux, of Wagner township; Fred C., of Everett, Wash.; Miss Martha, Fred C.,of Everett, Wash.; Miss Martha, of Chicago; William, of Dubuque; Carl F., of St. Paul; Mrs. Ella Lenth of Elkader; and Miss Louise, at home. He also leaves three sisters, Mrs. Charles Ritter, of Chicago; Mrs. A. H. Ruegnitz, of Elgin, Ill.; and Mrs. Fred Reichart, of Illyria township, Fayette county. All of the above were able to reach here for the funeral but Fred C. and Mrs. Ruegnitz.
The funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock from the home, Rev. R. G. Heddon officiating, with interment in the East Side cemetery.
