He was married to Miss Fredericka Suckow in Elkader, Sept. 6tth, 1875, and to them were born eight children, seven of whom are living. The wife and mother passed away January 2nd, 1909.

The surviving children are Mrs. Rosa Monlux, of Wagner township; Fred C., of Everett, Wash.; Miss Martha, Fred C.,of Everett, Wash.; Miss Martha, of Chicago; William, of Dubuque; Carl F., of St. Paul; Mrs. Ella Lenth of Elkader; and Miss Louise, at home. He also leaves three sisters, Mrs. Charles Ritter, of Chicago; Mrs. A. H. Ruegnitz, of Elgin, Ill.; and Mrs. Fred Reichart, of Illyria township, Fayette county. All of the above were able to reach here for the funeral but Fred C. and Mrs. Ruegnitz.

The funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock from the home, Rev. R. G. Heddon officiating, with interment in the East Side cemetery.
