Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 09 Apr. 1914. Monona column.

Margaret Ellen Artist was born at Morgantown, West Virginia, Sept. 10, 1846, and died at 4 a.m., March 30th, 1914, aged 67 years, 6 months and 20 days. She came with her parents to Volney, Iowa, in April, 1852, then in her sixth year, attending the public school in that vicinity. February 27, 1865, she was united in marriage to Caleb Entwisle at Fort Crawford, Prairie du Chien. Six children were born to this union: Mrs. Myrtle Bratsberg and Verne Entwisle, residing at Ellsworth, Minn.; Mrs. Dora Otis, Orian and Irene, of Monona; a son, Frank, died in infancy. Two sisters, Mrs. Laban Entwisle, of Granada, Minn., and Mrs. John Reinhart, of Huntley, Neb., survive her. For twenty-seven years the family resided on the home farm near Volney, coming to Monona in March, 1892. Mrs. Entwisle took an active part in the religious work, joining the M.E. church in Volney over twenty years ago. Her life was one of devotion to the family, lending a helping hand whenever she could to every laudable purpose in the advancement of Christian work. For more than three years she has suffered from a complication of diseases, and since last fall the trouble had grown more intense. A good woman has passed to the beyond. She will be missed from the circle in which she was a conspicuous agent for good. The aged husband and father, the daughters, sons and relatives are sorely bereaved, but their grief is shared by those who have long known the deceased, who admired her for her noble qualities of womanhood, her motherly affection and devotion to every good and intent of purpose. The funeral was held Wednesday morning at the M.E. church, Rev. J. B. Bird officiating.
