NATIVE OF AREA PASSES
Burial services were conducted by Rev. E. W. Kraemer, pastor of St. John’s Lutheran Church, this Wednesday at the Pioneer Rock Church Cemetery at Ceres for Edward Henry Nieman, 66.
Mr. Nieman died March 7 in a San Diego, California, hospital.
The burial was in charge of the Tuecke Funeral Home with the following as pallbearers: Roy Harnisch, Royce Backes, Galen Nieman, William Nieman, John Johnson, Lowell Nieman.
A native of the Guttenberg community, Mr. Nieman was born May 13, 1897, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerhard Nieman. He never married.
Mr. Nieman was a graduate of the Sweeney School of Engineering at Kansas City, Kansas, and had worked for General Motors in Detroit before going to California where he was employed at the California Packing company in Sacramento until his retirement in 1962. He was a veteran of both World War I and World War II.
Surviving Mr. Nieman are a brother, Louis Nieman of Guttenberg and two sisters Mrs. Ervin Backes of Garnavillo and Mrs. Fred Siegele of McGregor. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters and 2 brothers.
