Edward Lafayette Marlett, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. F.D.L. Marlette was born in Ion Aug. 22, 1905 and died Aug. 9, 1906.

The funeral service was held from the Methodist Church in Ion Saturday Aug 11, Rev. Williams officiating with interment at the Trappe Cemetery.

A complication of difficulties induced by whooping cough blighted the life of this beautiful budding flower and he faded in the early morning of his life. The sorrowing parents have the sympathy of a host of friends.

Card of Thanks
We wish to express our many thanks to our friends for the sympathy and courtesies received in our recent bereavement.
Mr. and Mrs. F.D.L. Marlett

~Monona Leader, Thursday, August 13, 1906

Note: I believe the most likely place of burial is Council Hill, which may have been known to some as the Trappe cemetery at the time of his death. The Council Hill cemetery is located just south of the Allamakee co. border in Clayton county, not far from Ion.
