Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 26 Feb. 1914. Strawberry Point column.
Clara May Sousley was born at Strawberry Point, Iowa, Oct. 5, 1860, and died at her home in St. Paul, Feb. 10, 1914. Strawberry Point is where she spent her girlhood days and was married to Lewis Madison, Oct. 31, 1878. Five children blessed this union, one dying in infancy, the remaining are: Mrs. L___ Evert (looks like Lulu Evert), of Edgewood; Mrs. Neva McKray, and John and Lee Madison, of St. Paul. Her husband died Jan. 15, 1907. Besides her children, and two grandchildren, she leaves two sisters, Mrs. Kate McK___s (looks like Kate McKinnis), of Littleport, and Mrs. Ann Pugh, of Mederville, and one brother, Scott Sousley, of this place, to mourn her death. In early childhood she united with the Methodist Episcopal church and has always worked for its interest. She spent most of her life in Strawberry Point until the last six years, when she moved to St. Paul, where she has since resided. The remains were brought here Thursday evening. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church, Friday, conducted by Rev. Bradford. The interment was in our local cemetery.
