Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 19 Feb. 1914. Littleport column.
Pat O'laughlin died at Meese's Hotel, Sunday morning, quite suddenly. He had been up Saturday evening playing cards until bed time when he retired. Not arising in the morning Mr. Meese went to his room to see if he wanted anything and succeeded in partly arousing him, but, thinking he was still tired and knowing his state of health, he left him for a short time. During this time Ed. O'Connor called at the hotel, intending to take Pat out to his home and upon going to his room found the old fellow lifeless. Coroner Zearley was notified and found Pat had died naturally from the ailment from which he has been a sufferer for several years.
Note: He has a gravestone in Sacred Heart cemetery, Littleport. Name on the stone is Patrick O. O'Loughlin and engraved dates are 1841-1914
