Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 05 Feb. 1914.
The death of Mrs. Thomas Tujetsch occurred at her home Friday morning, Jan. 30th, 1914, at 7:15 o'clock, at the age of 66 years, one month and four days.
The deceased, whose maiden name was Caroline Hartman, daughter of Maria and Henry Hartman, was born at Chicago, Ill., December 26, 1847.
When she was ten years old they moved to Clayton Center. They remained there but a few years and from there went to Clermont, Iowa. On Oct. 23rd, 1866, she was united in marriage to Mr. Thomas Tujetsch at Elkader. They resided on a farm near Elkader for three years and moved to Sheldon, Iowa. They remained there nine years and returned to Elkader, where she lived to the time of her death.
To this union were born six children, three boys and three girls. Three children preceded her in death, namely, Maria, aged ten; Christian, aged nine; and John, aged six.
She is survived by her husband and three children, Albert, Cora and Minnie, all at home, and one sister, Mrs. Henry Homeyer, of Chicago.
In youth she became a member of the Lutheran church and continued as such through life. Mrs. Tujetsch lived a good life and made many friends. She trusted in her Saviour and found safety in him. All that medical aid and loving hands could do was done, but to no avail, she peacefully passed away.
The services were at the house at 12:30 o'clock and at two o'clock at the German church Monday afternoon and her remains were laid to rest in the East Side cemetery.
Rev. Franke had for his text, Rom. 8:18 "For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us."
