Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at two o’clock at the home for Mrs. Edward H. Abel, who passed away Thursday evening, Dec. 20, at 11:30. The services were in charge of Rev. Jacobi of St. Paul’s United Lutheran church and burial was made in City cemetery.

Mrs. Abel, nee Anna Greenwaldt, was born July 27, 1862, in Guttenberg and received her education here. On Dec. 9, 1909, she was married at Elkader to Edward Abel of Monona and for the first two years of their married life, they lived at Monona. Returning here in 1911, the home has been here ever since.

She had been in poor health for some time and last Thursday evening she suffered a severe stroke, death following in four hours.

Her husband and four sons, Lester of Sheldon, Byron of Monticello, Merle A. and Layton W. of Guttenberg, survive. There are also six grandchildren and two brothers, August Greenwaldt of Coon Rapids and Arthur of LeMars. Mrs. Abel was a most devoted wife and mother, giving her time and talent to the care and betterment of her loved ones. Her passing occasions deep sorrow among all her friends and their sympathy is offered the bereaved family.
