Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 24 Dec. 1908. Elkport and Vicinity column.

Peter Seirks {sic}, aged 76 years, died at this place Saturday night, after a lingering illness. Funeral services were held at the Lutheran church Tuesday morning at 10:00 a.m. and the body was laid to rest in the Lutheran cemetery.

Gravestone in Immanuel Lutheran cemetery spells surname as Siercks.
