Michael Flannagan died at his home in this city Tuesday afternoon, November 17th, the immediate cause of his death being heart disease. Mr. Flannagan was born in 1831 in County Clare, Ireland, and came to the United States with his parents in 1846, the family settling in Vermont. In 1860 Mr. Flannagan came to Iowa, settling on a farm in Boardman township, where he resided until 1892 when he gave up active farm life and moved to Elkader, where he has since made his home. With his passing Clayton county loses one of its pioneer settlers and one who was respected by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife and three children: Kate, of Chicago; M. J., of Inwood, Iowa; and J. L. at home, and a brother living in North Dakota and a sister at Springfield, Mass.
