Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 10 Sept. 1908.
Elizabeth Osborne, nee Ribble, was born Sept. 20th, 1834, at Oakville, Canada, and peacefully passed away at 6:00 o'clock Wednesday morning, Sept. 2nd, at her home at Osborne. She was united in marriage with Thomas Osborne in 1864 and they came to the United States in March, 1865, settling at the Bulls Head, where they remained one year, after which they came to Osborne, which has been their home ever since. Her husband preceded her in death eighteen years ago.
"Mammy," as she was called by all her intimate friends, was a woman who possessed the spirit of meekness in the highest degree, slow to anger, and ever ready to render aid to all in need, she was held in the highest esteem by all who knew her. But God has called his own, and while God leaves us bowed in grief we know He has taken his jewel that He might array it in His crown of glory.
The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Shumacher Friday last.
(Note: There followed lengthy verses. A card of Thanks was simply signed The Children, none of whom were named.)
