Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 27 Aug. 1908. From the Fayette County Union, undated.

Ellen M. Schmelzer was born in Garnavillo, Iowa, January 21, 186_ (looks like 1863), and died at her home north of West Union Aug. 12, 1908. She was married on Jan. 12, 188_ (looks like 1883), to John Schmelzer, who, with eight children, five boys and three girls, and a large circle of friends, are left to mourn her death. The funeral services were held Friday morning at the Catholic church, Rev. Father Regan officiating. Interment was made in the Catholic cemetery.- Fayette County Union.
