Mary Jane Scallon, who was stricken with paralysis about two weeks ago, died at the home of Mrs. M. E. Taylor last Wednesday night, aged nineteen years. She came to the Taylor home about six months ago but has been in poor health for some time. The funeral was held from the house Friday, burial in Strawberry point cemetery. Miss Scallon came to Iowa about five years ago from a New York home for orphans, where she had been reared and educated. She was baptized last Monday and communion was administered by Rev. van Swearingen and she passed peacefully away in the Christian faith.
