William David Meskimen, 51, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 1999, in Guttenberg Municipal Hospital of cancer. Services: 1 p.m. Sunday, Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, by the Rev. Harold McMillin. Burial: Guttenberg City Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, Kathie; his father, William E. Meskimen, his mother, Agnes Weed, and a daughter, Wendy Meskimen, all of Cedar Rapids; a stepdaughter, Tricia (Tim) Vogt of Guttenberg; two sisters, Charlene Meier and Jannette Lipcamon, both of Cedar Rapids; two grandsons, Dillon and Lukas Vogt; special aunt and uncle, Carl and Marjeanne Jungjohaun of Cedar Rapids; uncles; aunts; nephews; nieces; and friends.
His stepfather, Charles Weed, and a brother, Jim Weed, preceded him in death.
William David Meskimen was born Feb. 23, 1948, in Cedar Rapids, the son of William E. Meskimen and Agnes Nosek Weed. Bill attended Hay School, Wilson and Jefferson in Cedar Rapids. Following graduation, he served his country in the Navy during the Vietnam Conflict. After returning from Vietnam, Bill worked for a roofing company for several years until he attended the Cedar Rapids Barber College, where he received his degree in cutting hair. While living in Guttenberg, he became an EMT, worked at several local factories, owned and operated Bill's Cut Above Barber Shop and worked for the city of Guttenberg. On Aug. 21, 1988, he was united in marriage to Kathie Glawe in Guttenberg.
