Walter HagerGUTTENBERG, Iowa - Walter Hager, 85, of Guttenberg, died Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at his home after a sudden illness.
Arrangements are being handled by Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 207 S. First St., Guttenberg, where the family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. today and one hour before services at the church on Saturday. Funeral services will be at St. John's Lutheran Church, Guttenberg, at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 29. The Rev. Shane Anderson will be officiating. Interment will be in Guttenberg City Cemetery
Walter was born Jan. 17, 1929, in Piramasins, Germany. For many years, he was a master electrician in the Chicago area.
On Sept. 21, 1981, he was united in marriage with Ardythe Strader at St. John's Lutheran Church in Guttenberg.
Walter enjoyed traveling and was a member and past president of the Harlem Maennerchor in Forrest Park, Illinois.
He is survived by his wife, Ardythe; brother-in-law, Clark (Mickie) Strader, niece, Megan Strader; nephews, Eric (Dawn) Strader, Todd (Stephanie) Strader, Scott (Joelle) Strader and Dieter Gloeckner; eight great-nieces and nephews and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Ruth.
