THEODORE ROTH

Guttenberg

Theodore Bernard Roth, 91, of Guttenberg, died Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015, at Guttenberg Municipal Hospital in Guttenberg.

He was born July 14, 1924, in Guttenberg, the son of Bernard Theodore and Anna (Petsche) Roth. Ted received his education locally and toward the end of high school, entered the U.S. Army, where he served in several major campaigns in the European Theater during World War II. He received an honorable discharge on Feb. 5, 1946. On Aug. 20, 1947, Ted was united in marriage with Elaine Rodas at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elkader. They were later blessed with three children.

For many years, Ted operated Ted's Shell Station until his retirement. Ted was a longtime member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Guttenberg, Guttenberg American Legion Post 373 and back in the day, Ted and Elaine were members of a square dancing club. Ted enjoyed his time working at the service station, especially visiting with all his customers, except the ones who stopped only to use the bathroom.

Ted enjoyed spending time with his family. He rarely ever missed his kids and grandkids' school events or sporting events over the years and always made himself available to his family when they needed him for anything.

Ted is survived by his wife of over 68 years, Elaine; children, Dennis (Virginia) Roth, Dean (Lindy) Roth and Diane Bockenstedt; grandchildren, Jeremy (Sara) Roth, Josh (Kelly) Roth, Justin Roth, Stephanie (Crai) Thach, Jessica (Chris) Hennessey, Derrick (Andrea) Bockenstedt and Jennifer (Brandon) Brown; great- grandchildren, Elizabeth, Chancelor, Isabella, Kristopher, Katelin, Wesley, Emma, William, Avery, Kya, Bryson and Cody; and many other relatives and friends.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents; twin brothers, Arthur and Alois; and two sisters, Katherine Clinton and Dorothy Wilson.

Arrangements are being handled by Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, 207 S. First St., Guttenberg. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, at St. John' s Lutheran Church in Guttenberg. Funeral services will be at St. John's Lutheran Church at 2 p.m. Saturday, with the Rev. Shane Anderson officiating. Interment will be at Guttenberg City Cemetery.
